Jeepney Diaries
El Rio Y Mar
(River by the Sea)
Day 1:
Slept throughout the one-hour flight from NAIA 3 to Busuanga Airport. The plane was about to land when I woke up. I looked outside and saw fields of green and canopy of trees. Are we landing here? Or are we on crash landing? Do I need to start praying? I’m too young and too hot to die!!!
It was not all dirt and trees and bushes after all. We landed safely, thank God. Transferred to the resort’s connecting transpo, a Jeepney. 30 minute dirt road adventure then to our boat ride. The scene was quite surreal, mangroves along the river banks and clear waters beneath the boat. Passed through a number of islands then to our final destination, El Rio Y Mar, the River by the Sea.
We were welcomed by the resorts local ‘combo’ band singing some la la tunes. The resort manager personally entertained us and discussed the numerous activities that we can do in our entire stay. Grouped into 2, my officemate and I went to our cabana. Uhm, a honeymoon suite for two guys? My boss and our manager were also given the honeymoon suite. While the girls have their separate twin beds and a walk-in closet.
Walk-in closet!
Buffet lunch was served around noon. Burp!
Nicole and I decided to start our tanning operation around 1:30pm. Cancer versus sun-kissed skin. The rest of the team decided to retire for a while and enjoy siesta. I want my tan. With my tanning oil and Zon7 (plugging: check out Zon7 2009 swimwear collection at http://senseofstyle.multiply.com) , it was do or die.
We then went to the infinity pool and continue the mission to be sun-kissed Gods and Goddesses. Phase 1 complete. Two to three more coats to go!
Around 5pm, we started our structured team building. Uhm, nothing to blog about. Lol.
Buffet dinner at 7 o’clock. Love the pickled tanigue. The soup was terrible. The cake’s icing was too candy-like. The mangoes and pineapples, yum yum.
Teambuilding activity afterwards. Pictionary and charades. ‘Libag’ or ‘Haplos?’
Had beer with the team. Then retired for the night.
Tomorrow’s itinerary: Breakfast at 7 o’clock, trip to Club Paradise from 8 to noon, lunch back at El Rio Y Mar, then more time for my tanning process.
